Acapulco, also known as the Pearl of the Pacific, has been a world-famous celebrity resort for decades. The beach scene is inviting: the water is perfect, you can rent a palapa (palm shelter) and lounge chairs for unlimited beach time, enjoy meals and drinks at restaurants having tables with sunshades right on the sand, book banana boat and parasailing rides, or buy tropical fruits, Coke, or smoked fish from vendors strolling on the sand. The beach life springs up even after the sun goes down when beach nightclubs attract people until the sun comes up again. One of Acapulco’s most famous attractions is La Quebrada where fearless clavadistas (cliff divers) plunge some 35 meters into a narrow, rock-framed channel as part of a daily show that has become one of Acapulco’s most traditional landmarks.
